1) You have to wear it everyday until it is healed.
2) Takes about 8 weeks to heal.
3) If you take it out before it heals (8 weeks), it will probably close, but worse things could happen so, if you don't think you will want it, don't get it at all. And after it's healed, it will never close.
4) You could get an infection if you do it alone. Just go see a pro, it's like.. the cheapest and most common piercing out there.

Ok, sounds like your going to go to Claire's, which is a very bad idea. They use those god forsaken "guns" which use blunt force trauma to insert the earring, CANNOT be sterilized (which means you get other people germs) and the people have zero training on how to properly pierce someone. They have no clue on how to properly care for a piercing (hence their advice to turn the earring, you NEVER turn a piercing) and the "cleaning solution" they give you is less than worthless. Go to a piercing place and have it done properly with a needle and by someone who's had years of training, not only in piercing but disease prevention and cross contamination. It'll cost a little more but it's safer and better. They'll also mark the holes for you.

Go pro w/ ear piercing. An exprienced cosmetic tech can tell you it's best to wear the earring for a couple of weeks and keep the area clean as well while the skin heals.

Its wise to stick to just the ears--extreme piercings are tricky to keep clean and heal properly--and invite infections to occur. Besides, such piercings are on the popularity decline today anyways......

Get it professionally done. It takes 6 weeks for lobe piercings to heal. The backings on the starter studs are hard to get off and I needed to go back to where I had them pierced and get them to take them off. The starter studs are not meant to be re-used. I was told to wear earrings for at least a year before being able to leave them out for certain periods (like overnight).

Get it pierced by a professional of course. It will heal with the ring inside and the healing process differs in individuals. Mine took 6 months to heal up fully.

going for a proffessional way is easy.. once you get it done.. you have to leave them on your ear for atleast 8 weeks.. until it is healed completely... may be in the third month or so you can start changing the tops.. if you want the hole to get closed by itself... it takes time but I am sure you can see the mark,. you might need makeup for sure to hide it.. unless you take off in before a year...
hope this helps you... gud luck:)

For Punching go to a professional
rest are personalised and individual - once punched try to have them slowly enlaged by a weight of at least 8 grams PLUS and make sure the pair are balanced to better than 2% unless you plan for different sizes for left and right

i pierced my own ears and no matter how long I leave them out the holes never close.Sometimes they fill up with dirt,I'd think very seriously before doing it.
