As a former Vet 'Nam '66 '67 I don't support a war anywhere. And, unless you've been there and have lived in the blood, seen the guts of fallen comrades spilled on the ground, seen your buddies holding their guts in while waiting for the medic to get to him, you wouldn't' either.

I have lived through watching the Cong burning a schoolhouse down after locking up the village people in there and, all the village kids, we worked like mad men to get them out in time. The Cong sitting on the edge of the jungle shooting at us. This is war? I think not, Is Iraq any different ? I think not. would Iran be any different ? Think not.

Before you ask about war, have you been there?

If war broke out in Iran, I would assume that this would be an internal affair, unlikely as the Iranian government is one of the most stable in the MIddle East.

Would I support a war against Iran by another sovereign state would depend on the circumstances, I tend not to support war, although not a pacifist, I cannot see that going to war is ever constructive.

The current situation is more our problem than the Iranians, we are the ones that do not want Iran to become a nuclear power. The reality is there is little that can be done to prevent them becoming one.

With the current threat that exists in the Middle East one can see why they may want to build a nuclear deterrent, that is not what they are saying, the Iranians are saying they want to have a nuclear capability and want to nuclear plant to underwrite their energy requirements.

If they are not being truthful and are wanting to create a nuclear weapon, we are the reason why, after all look at this from their perspective, foreign powers have taken over two neighbouring countries, Iran and Afghanistan, one of which has major border with Iran, it may be indirect, and certainly the Iranians were no friends of Saddam Hussein, but one must say that if the neighbouring country to yourselves was very unstable you would want to defend yourself, this arguement also holds true for Turkey massin troops on their border with Iraq.

Try this as an example, the Spanish believe that Basque separatists are using El Salvador as a major base to launch terrorist campaigns on mainland Spain and in South America, the UN refuses to sanction action, the Spanish Government then acts unilaterally with Argentina to over throw the government of El Slavador, they then decide, with very little evidence that Mexico is supporting the Basques and has weaponry that could in theory cause devastation in Spain and then overthrows the Mexican Government, Mexico then fails into a situation where civil war is probable, and various groups are running around Mexico blowing things up.

I think the USA would feel very threatened, and in all likelyhood would not have acted with the restraint shown by the Iranians.

Yes, I accept that the Iranian Prime Minister is not the most agreeable of people, he does say things that are internationally unacceptable, he has threatened Israel, and clearly he does not trust the West, but then we don't trust him either.

Perhaps we just need to understand the Iranians better, that could prevent a war, and give us an ally in the Middle East, a very powerful one at that.

I won't support any war that will be just another copy of killing innocent kids, women and elders in Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere in the world regardless the religion\race. However, can we change anything just by answering this question that I will say thanks to the asker and for all good people in the world who said NO loudly. The problem is like I said, we can't change the plans that have been prepaired long years ago! and I believe there will be a war in the Gulf area (Sadly) and many people will be killed. it's all for the oil contracts and super power as well the wrong understanding of a religion!
this fact really hurted me since long time, and God bless you all for giving me the chance to write and share my pain that I will be one of the victims ummm after 3 years or even 2 from now.
no need to say more cos it won't change nothing..
Tack everyone

No. I am against wars but I am not against assasination. If there is going to be killing to solve problems the US should just take out the Iranian leadership. If the US had killed Saddam and his top generals right now the assasination would be a memory - history.

Most world leaders are cowards. They don't believe in assasination because they themselves alone don't want to live in fear. So they use armies an thousands or millions of people die.

Next time just cut off the head and let the people of the country find a new one!

absolutely no!! Pls, no more war, and if I can, I would like to see the world leader that like to make war to others. I want to ask them..why they like to involve in war? Iran do no wrong to others. Coz of the nuclear power? Other countries also have. So, must we attack all those have nuclear power station in their country? Then there is no more planet call world. And these people that like to decide war, why not they send their own family, their daughter, their son, their wife or even themselves to be the soldier to fight in the battle that they create? Then they will know how to feel if we lost our family member in the war, lost own life. Worthless war.. why not keep the world in peace... Let the country settle their own problem..and dont wasted cost of war that can help development of own country or helping those country in need... spare the life of the people for their own country instead of shot to death at foreign country that have no relation to them..... I'm sure, most of the armies that being sent to the war are not happy in present or after get back from the war...they have seen a lot of cold blood murder and doing things that they dont like to do. They having trauma in their whole life... correct me if I'm wrong.

No, first we need to ascertain without a shadow of a doubt that Tehran is making preparations for nuclear war before taking such drastic action. Second, I believe that it is in our best interest to finish what we've started first before starting something else. Even if Tehran obtains nuclear capability, they're not stupid enough to attack the United States. We have enough nukes to destroy the world many times over.

No. War is the biggest evil in the world. It kills people and the future is destroyed. And will anyone spare a thought for the kids who will have to struggle to make two ends meet?

EDIT- Why the hell do I get a thumbs down for this?
