Just make sure you are following their guidelines to the letter. Keep the cover letter short and sweet. Explain to them why your story would fit in the in their magazine and who you are. Pax - C

Its easy just ask them to read your script and put some basic info about your self. Dont overintroduce yourself since that would only make them boring and wanting to throw it away in a garbage can. Just name and adress and phone number. plus a short describation of what the story is for kind of story like an short story adventures for young children so that they can find the right person to read it. Good luck! Johan

Just like a cover letter destined to get you a job basically. You're looking for a "square" section in their magazine after all, right? So introduction formula, expressing your intention paragraph, motivating your intention paragraph, argumentation paragraph and ending formula.
(It's actually a letter of inquiry)

be business like, don't brag/joke/beg in anyway, just tell them you would like to submit your story and leave your details with a stamped/addressed envelope for return post if they should decide not to publish the story.
good luck. x
