I have a card and am quite happy with the thought that I'll get broken down for spares when I pop my clogs.

My partner is a widower and his wife was quite young when she passed, leaving him 3 children to raise. She was a nurse and had always made sure that everyone knew her wish was to be an organ donor should anything happen to her. The children were kept informed of the progress of the people that had received their mum's organs and that made it easier for them to accept their loss, knowing that their mum was still saving lives after her death.

I want to be a donor but family say no.

I respect that, because until someones chest has stopped going up and down and their heart stops beating, it's hard to accept they really are dead.

Because I am not a donor, I have told family, I wouldn't accept anything from a donor.

Yes, I'm a donor, but I don't agree with the proposal to make it universal, where people have to actively opt out in order to not donate. I think it's a highly personal choice, and I would respect anyone's wishes to not donate.
There's a certain amount of aggression coming into the whole area which I don't like - and it should never be taken for granted, in my humble opinion.

I have a card, if you get a boots advantage card it doubles as a donor card (if you tick the right box)
heres the tricky bit though....even if you are a donor, your family still have the right to over turn your decision when you die. So it is just as important to ensure your next of kin knows of your wishes.

If you have just read the news on here at the start of logging on then you would realise that unless we demand our organs are not used then we are all going to be. I would donate mine anyway as there are not enough for what is needed and if i can help save lives from when i pass then thats good.

I have said I will donate all my organs. I filled the form in when I took my driving test, so it is on computer. I am not allowed to give blood now, but I have given 24 pints.

I have previously registered and carried a card. However I have moved several time and the database information would be inaccurate. I never ever carry a purse so I dont carry cards in general at all.

I have made my opinion clear to my family about my wishes but I would welcome the opt out idea. Carrying a card (even if i did remember to take one) would be pointless if they refused to consent.

I am, I have a card, I'm on the register for organs & bone marrow & I've made my family aware of my wishes. The government hasn't made it compulsory (unless you opt out) yet but they are considering it.

I do. I was at a funeral recently and the priest made a point of saying the deceased had given life to 5 others through organ donation.......it made her death seem not as pointless.

I've told my family to donate my organs, I won't miss them when I'm dead
