You absolutely can use a tampon. Your hymen (which is the covering of membrane that make you a virgin) can not be reached by a tampon and thus will not be ruptured.
You would probably be more comfortable using a "mini" or "lite" tampon as these are the slimmest on the market.
My mother used to think this - it is such an old wive's tale. I am the third daughter so thank heaven's she got over it by the time I was menstruating - although she made me wait until I was about 16.
Summer holidays at the beach or pool aren't too fun when you can't wear tampons.

A virgin can wear a tampon. I did for a number of years til a medical problem not related to the tampon occurred. I know that my mom was concerned about me using tampons because she was afraid I would lose my virginity because of the breaking of the hymenal area that covers over the vaginal opening. But the hymen can break for lots of reasons such as trying to use a tampon or even a fall. The true sense of the word "virgin" is someone who has never had sex.
The brand I found worked best for me was using a brand called Ob because I didn't have to worry about cardboard applicators.
I would recommend checking with your doctor as well.

Whoever told you this probably also believes that you cant get pregnant if you "do it" standing up! Which is complete nonsense as is not being able to use tampons if you are a virgin.
You are a virgin and will remain a virgin until you have sexual intercourse. Using a tampon will not change this.
Girls have a hymen which gets broken during sex for the first time, it is possible for girls to break their hymen long before they even think about having sex and may do, like by riding a bike for instance. Even if your hymen is broke before you have sex you are still a virgin. Hope that helps.

Yes you can. What you've been told isn't true. Granted it may be uncomfortable the first time but it is very possible. As you'd be a first time user it's best that you get the very slim tampons, sometimes called light tampons as they can be used for those women who want to use them for the lighter stage of their period.
Also, just to add, using a tampon will not take away your virginity, only having sex will.
All the best.

Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about! Tampons are for anyone and everyone. There's no reason why you can't use them if you're a virgin.

Yes you can. SOme cultures claim that if the hymen is broken then a woman is no longer a virgin. But the hymen can break from playing sports, tampons and even if you get hurt.
