It is competely legal for any company to employ Child labour in a country that doesn't have child labour laws. There are No US laws prohibiting a US based company or company operating in the US from employing Child labour or other sweatshop labour in it's non US operations.

However, is it morally justifiable? I think not.

The legality depends on the country you are talking about. Some countries have no child labor laws or restrictions at all. Some with laws have very lax enforcement. There is nothing in US law to make companies follow US laws regarding child labor when working overseas.

It may or may not be legal.

For instance, in this country a kid can be a paperboy (girl), and also work a certain amount of hours IF they are paid the minimum wage and other rules are followed.

However, if it can be proven that a US corporation is selling goods that it directly has "enslaved" people to produce, then a case could be made for a suit against them.

Many things that SHOULD be illegal are not illegal, and in many cases, the actions of US companies do not appear to be moral, but there is also no existing statute under which they can be prosecuted.

These days, the strongest action taken against companies that do not do business in an honest and moral fashion is for pension boards to withdraw their investments in those companies.

The State of California does this with the major pensions overseen by the state, and it is a huge financial hit for those companies when their stocks are sold off and the value drops.

It's legal. Child labor is legal in the US in many cases as well for kids who have permits from their high schools. It would be governed by the laws of the nation the child is in, not the nation where the company is based.

In many countries,yes -
but
kids gotta eat-bribes are paid- kids work.

In Thailand recently, a sweatshop using child labor was raided by a do-gooder US fact-finding tour group...all the kids were fired.
Now those kids are in the sex trade.
