Well Xmas at my house has always meant me and the kids
go to a homeless shelter run by the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and hand out presents and serve food. I have always wanted my children to appreciate how fortunate they are in life.

It's all a mess, really. The origin of Santa Claus has nothing to do with December 25th. Why specifically December 25th? Why not January 1st? The new year falls on the 1st of January. Now, Jesus is 2007 years old, not 2008. He will turn 2008 this December 25th? He will still be 2008 years old on January 1st, 2009. Why do we use AD???? We've got other Christians celebrating Christmas on other dates, not on December 25th! Worst, the Bible did not specify Jesus' birthdate. And what the hell was that flock of sheep doing out there at night when it was freezing out there???? They are normally out there at night from spring to fall. Ok, back to the question. Better reinvent Santa Clause and state the new purpose of him. Talk about him on the 24th or 26th of December! Or move him to February 1st! Or make Santa Claus a holiday for kids only! The questioner is right..Santa Claus does not contribute to Christmas in terms of respect for God and Jesus Christ.
