Treat all others as you want to be treated sums it up nicely. IF you live by that you need no other rules in life. To add to that, I would say "save for a rainy day, even in a drought." There is a vast difference in "wanting something" and "needing something"...we often get confused about this. Honor your father and mother...you don't have to like them, but you should honor them. With this, all can lead a very good life. Peace and love, Goldwing

Hi there Mr. Wickwire,

I am a 67 year youthful woman at heart. I have gone through the "school of hard knocks". Life has taught me many things through the years.

I have learned the following: 'A person never stops learning, no matter what their age'. The older I get the more I realize how much I have to learn. I am not referring to book knowledge. I am referring to "life lessons"

"Never judge a book by it's cover". Though it is an age old quote, It is so true. We have no right to judge others. Whether it be a family member, or a best friend.

Even if you are extremely close, and share all the details of your life with eachother. There are always some details that were not shared with you for one reason or another, and therefore you have no right to be judgemental.

This happened to me yesterday with my older sister. We spent the day together going to the doctor, and doing some shopping. When we said our goodby's she shared a personal secret with me, which she never told me before.

The next day while having my morning coffee, I mulled over what she had shared with me. It changed my whole perspective on my relationship with her. It answered allot of ambivillant feelings which caused me allot of pain, which I never expressed to her all these years. I had always thought it was "sibling rivalry", still stemming from our years as teenagers.

How wrong I was!! This has broken the ambivilant feelings, and I feel like a million dollars. I know now in my heart of hearts, that it was the secret she shared with me which caused her actions to me from time to time through out the years, and not sibling rivalry.

Another life lesson is to "believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear".

I can go on and on, but it would be to long for this forum. So I will only add one more, which is. "Never to take anything for granted, or expect anything in life, as it may only lead to dissappointment".

Have a wonderful day,

Michele

The stages of life bring breakthroughs for me.
New life lessons appear at these times.

My latest:

If it's not related to relationships it's not important so always put people ahead of things.

All emotion comes out of fear or love,
learn to see the difference.

The less you speak the better off you are so keep your mouth shut! (a really difficult one for me)

Go ahead a get an education to boost your self confidence and ability to assimilate and convey your thoughts.
Not just as a venue to earn money & prestige.

Thanks for asking, Wickwire.

I would like to pass this poem along. It is about life's struggles and how it makes us stronger:

The Tallest Trees

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
That stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forrest king.

And folks who never had to toil,
Who never had to win their share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never quite knew the Greater Plan
But lived and died as they began.

Good timber does not grow in ease,
The stronger wind the tougher trees.
The more the storm, the greater strength.
By sun and cold, by rain or snows,
In trees, or man, good timber grows.

Where thickest stands the forrest growth,
We find the Patriarch of both;
And upwards reach towards the stars
Through broken branches, touched with scars
Of many winds and much of strife,
Here is our strength and hope of life!

Once you have ENOUGH, things are not important; never worry about how much someone else has, because you have no earthy idea how they REALLY got it.

Doing what you care about in life is important, much more so than money.

And age really IS just a number; it's not a saying to keep people from being bad about aging - it's TRUE!

Keep your mind active; keep your body active; keep your soul active, whatever you believe that to be. Do that, and you will never feel "old" - just experienced.

Treat others as you would want to be treated, and never part company with a friend or loved one in a disagreement, it may be the last time you ever see them on this earth. I know that sounds like such a downer, but it just illustrates how precious our time together really is - don't sweat the small stuff, and it's ALL small stuff!

Who in the world is giving all the thumbs down and WHY?

Never trust anyone who says 'Trust me'
Never believe a politician whom every one 'says' is honest
Keep a smile on your face and love in your heart
Always face life with a grin
Never give up on anything you try
Believe in yourself
It is never too late to learn new things
Never stop learning
When you stop learning you stagnate and lose hope.
Make humor a large part of your life
Laugh at yourself

Yes.If you have time to spend with family, then do it.Once that day is gone it will never be back.I see that so clear now.I lost my Mother 18 months ago and wish I would have spent more time with her.Seems like when you work you spend off time getting ready for next week. Then there is my favorite saying"Say what you mean and mean what you say".I used that with my whole family...

Just one in particular. That no matter HOW old we are, there are still a lot of life lessons ~ both good and bad ~ that we need to go through yet. We need to keep our hearts and minds open to them, because they make us better and stronger and who we are.

It is meant to be fun. Don't take it too serious. All that mental energy waisted worrying about things that never happen. No chicken Little the sky is not falling. You just took the nut too seriously.
