Hey, that is a part of life ... we ALL have to WORK to earn the income that we need to provide for ourselves, our special someones and our families ... and that is for sure.
IF he remembers your birthday (but can't celebrate with you because of work that day) ... hey, AT LEAST he is considerate and caring enough to REMEMBER! That is what is important here!

I definitely feel like single! If that's the case, then just go out and have fun. Of course it can be understable if gifts or belated celebration is offered as compensation..
