Just curious. I see it all over this site. Adults saying things like "I go nighty nite, tuck me in pwease".... Why do they do this? It seriously pisses me off. My two year old speaks better than that.

It pisses me off and I'm really sensitive about it, too. If I hear it, I'll simply tell people to please stop talking like that. I'm the same way about people who talk in 3rd person. For both of these reasons, I want to strangle Elmo. It's just awful that he's taken over the Sesame Street that I loved as a child.

because the children like it. It is just 2nd nature it does not mean we think the child is stupid or something. I was reading an article the other day and it said baby talk is good for babies. my new grandson loves the baby talk and my 9 year old grandson loves it when I say come here grandmas little baby. I still say nighty nite sometimes to my grown kids. It is just a way of taking the edge off words

I find it annoying! I hate baby talk, especially from guys I dated. I was called Honey bear, Sugar Plum, Apple Dumpling and Babycakes from my 1st boyfriend. I told him to shut up before I gain 50 pounds. Yuck!!

Yuck, guess we are reading in different areas of this site. I do not find it cute either, although have said stupid stuff in baby talk to make the point that someone else was being childish.(inperson not online)

It is pretty sad when adults talk like that amongst themselves.
The only time I thought it was cool was between Pumpkin and Honey Bunny on Pulp Fiction.
