Why is it that no matter where you go in the world where there are people of varying hues, preference for light skin is almost universal. All of Latin America, India, Thailand, China, Japan, Philippines, America, etc. I even remember reading that the reason Native S. Americans were so trusting of whites initially when they came to the new world is because they had legends about a white deity that would come to them some day. I know everyone says it's the media and movies, but the light skin preference is so widespread across so many cultures that I'm wondering if there could be some inborn preference. I've heard studies before that suggest this, but I'm not sure how in depth they were. I mean is there one nation on earth where dark skin people are preferred over the light ones? I can't think of any examples.

There does seem to be a preference for lighter skin and I think it might have to do with distinguishing those who work in the fields all day from the wealthier people who don't. Those who work in the fields are out in the sun and have darker skin as a result. Those who don't have lighter skin. The fact they are wealthier and have lighter skin appears to have been the source for the higher status of those with lighter skin than those with darker skin.

I prefer to have some color on my skin because I look better that way. I just don't look as handsome when my skin is pale but maybe you do. The old saying is tall, dark, and handsome and not tall, lighter skin tone , and handsome. Maybe guys prefer lighter shade chicks but honestly I prefer something in the middle, not to dark not to pale. Something like Brazilian girl like Adrianna Lima or Allesandra Ambrosio from Victorria Secret.
