I remember not too long ago, when George W. Bush's team tried to defend the Iraqi War and said that Abraham Lincoln also "took the United States to war as well" (the Civil War) and that Abe wasn't a very popular President during his time, like Bush, yet he is considered one of the greatest American presidents today.

Hmmm! I don't know if Honest Abe would quite agree with that - but anyway, what are your personal opinions? Does George W. Bush deserve to be compared to Abe Lincoln?

Just don't resort to name-calling or personal attacks - thank you. :)

I don't know of any President who has had lower disapproval ratings than George Bush. He may engage us in a few more wars before he leaves. For Lincoln they built a Memorial, for Bush perhaps a lavatory.

abraham lincoln was an evil man. he didnt care about ending slavery. he even said so. the southern states had the constitutional right to withdraw from the union. he invaded the south for no justifiable reason. segregation was still the law of the north. all the slave ships operated out of the north. the war had nothing to do with liberating the black people. it was a war of occupation just like the iraq war. so yes, bush deserves to be compared to "honest" abe and all the other piece of sh-t presidents of this bull sh-t country!

Well, both will go down in history as republican U.S. presidents who were in office during wartime. I think the lines of comparison pretty much end there.

Yeah, he definitely compares to Abe. They're both men, both have ears, both Republicans... beyond that, not too much to compare!

In the sense that they are both protein-based forms of life, yes. Other than that, most valid comparisons break down.
