Ive recently come across a couple of forums and topic's suggesting that malkin can quite possibly be better than crosby and I thought to myself " malkins ok, but what if crosby was completely takin out of the picture and just vanished off the face of the earth. Just how good would malkin be than, because on the power play that's when malkin leetched off him for goals, and assists, i mean think about, crosby is almost as good as joe thornton at passing the puck, and so how does malkin get his 50 assists last year? easy crosby dish's the puck to malkin than malkin gives it to recchi or talbot etc..Look the bottom line is this, that Malkin only got 33 goals last year playing with the best playmaker in the world, yet Ovechkin got 52 goals on his own and at the same time tsn ranked Malkin better than Ovy. Even though Malkin plays with the best player in the world he still only gets 33 goals, so you tell me now and really truely ask yourself...is Malkin even remotely good as Crosby? i dont.

If you ask me, i think he honestly could only put up about 20 goals and around 30 assists maybe 40 (if he had no crosby type player to compliment him on the power play, where malkin get's most of his points. Coincidence?) also before malkin or even staal, crosby put up 102 points in his rookie campaigne, thats only a 18 pont difference from his sophomore(which by the way he could of put up in his sophomore without malkin, thats only 18 more points to work for, and also malkin is 23 months older than crosby. Should i keep saying more?, malkin scores a goal in each of his first 6 games, and who set him up like no other? you guessed it. I hate ovechkin but even i know that he is a better player than malkin by a landslide. You think im jealous? no , i just want the truth to be told the way it should be. The penguins overall would still be in debt, the nhl would have no real bright future without croz, or ovechkin. If malkin were hyped to be the next lemieux, would he live upto it? nope....

these people are just jumping the gun, it's only the start of the season you've seen what Crosby did the past two season and he totally controls the game and the team, just give him another week or two and hell be on top once again. most of the guy's over the years on TSN have always jumped the gun with players that start great one year and put another player down. they probably put Marian Hossa down cause of the terrible start of season for the Thrashers you'll always have your bashers and people that will say something to get attention.

I live in Pittsburgh so I get to see these guys a lot. Sid, Geno (as Malkin is known to his team-mates) and Jordan Staal are all incredibly talented. Right now, Sid is far and away the better of the three. Hands down, no question. As last season wound down, Sid got stronger and Malkin tired out because he wasn't used to the length of the season.

Sid is going to be one of the best players in the league for a long, long time. The kid never stops working, on and off the ice. He has a drive to improve and succeed that I've never seen before.

Malkin also has a chance to be among the league's elite. This is only his second season and will only get better. I think he has the potential to be among the top 5 players, but potential isn't a guarantee. So, at the moment, Crosby is the better player. Geno could, in the future, challange Sid as the best, but it's at least a couple years away.

Right now... Crosby and Ovechkin have more NHL experience than Malkin. So until these guys are in their primes as full-fledged NHL players, shhh with the comparisons.

Other people will compare. People will criticize Crosby, Malkin, AND Ovechkin. There's no need to contribute to that.

I think it's too early to evaluate what kind of player Crosby will be consistently at this point, so it's WAY too early to tell with Malkin. It's only his 2nd season. Of course he hasn't reached his potential as a hockey player; he's young---he hasn't even filled out his frame yet! Or become completely comfortable with the language most of his teammates speak.

Crosby is ahead of last year's pace..............people should let them be.

Is Malkin better than Crosby? Very good question. It's close, and over the next few years time will tell.

As far as Malkin playing with the best playmaker in the world? I'm not sure that Joe Thornton or Jason Spezza (widely regarded by NHL GMs as the two best playmakers) have played all that much with Malkin!

Oh, NHL's central scouting has Malkin at 28th, right behind Mats Sundin.

Please post the link to TSN ranking Malkin higher than Ovechkin. I would like to read that for myself.

The Hockey News ranks, 1. Crosby, 2. Ovetchkin, 44. Malkin, in its 2007-2008 Yearbook Top 50. So I am finding that more than a little hard to believe.

I don't think anyone with a rational mind honestly believes that Malkin is currently a better player than Crosby or Ovechkin. In your rant it appears that you are paranoid about people not giving Sid the respect that you feel he deserves. With Sid's great talent and past and future accomplishments, the jealousy and anger will only grow. I watched it happen to Gretzky growing up, he was hated for his abilities by many fans outside Edmonton and he was often called a sissy (and other things) by jealous fans who secretly wished he skated for their team.
If you get this fired up now, you are going to have an ulcer by the time Sid the Kid actually wins a cup! You should actually start worrying and getting mad when they stop talking trash on him, that means he is irrelevant and I don't see that happening for a long time.

Look at what Crosby did his first year in the league. Now look at what Malkin did, with better players around him than Crosby had. Malkin is NO Crosby. Not even close.

I defiantly accept as true with you with ease five avid gamers greater than crosby and malkin, zetterberg, and datsyuk are defiantly a side of that record. EDIT: Savard is a excellent participant however to mention "I cannot feel you indexed Datsyuk" is just a little overboard Miss Savard I like Savard and I'll upload him to my record however there is not any denying that Datsyuk is a excellent participant. I am no longer in anyway a Detroit fan however Datsyuk has skillability plenty of it truely one among my favourite avid gamers additionally Zetterberg conveniently robust either one of them.

I cannot say I agree with this. Crosby is other-worldly. Malkin is a supreme talent, but he doesn't control the ice like Sid.
