Boston College has the week off, so the #3 Eagles are a lock to replace South Florida at #2. Will Ohio State also lose, catapulting Boston College into the #1 ranking?

Don't the Virginia Tech fans realize that Boston College isn't playing this week? Their game is Thursday, which is after the next poll.

Are you retarded or is this a joke? Va Tech will kill B.C.
And I love Matt Ryan-my pick for the Heisman so far(Brohm of Louisville and McFadden of Arkansas are playing for teams that are 3 and 3) but they are going to Va to play an underated Hokie team that has destroyed everyone but LSU-and that was their 1st game of the season. They are a much better team now. Va Tech would kill Kentucky! An LSU rematch? Maybe not. LSU should be ranked#1. Ohio State will lose 2 games this year. They last played the Vienna Boys Choir or some such crap. Get a grip on reality please.

I guess if you really wanna stretch it out and go strictly by the numbers, you can make that argument because they would be the remaining teams going undefeated. However, you have to ask yourself what the rankings mean. #1 through #5 means the top 5 teams in the country, right? OR...does it mean the top 5 best records in college football? I just can't justify putting a Hawaii team that barely eked a victory against SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY a top 10 team. They're a good team on the island but have proven time and again that they're horrible on the "mainland." Kansas could make a better argument playing in the big 12 against some more legitimate teams but still, you're talking about Central Michigan, Southeast Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International, and Baylor. Although their schedule will get more difficult in the coming weeks, they're not going to have the face the likes of Florida, LSU, Kentucky, South Carolina, etc.. The SEC fans do have a point. Do you honestly think that Hawaii and Kansas are the two best teams in the country? Ask yourself what those rankings mean...quantified or qualified?

No. Ohio State's defense is too good. And keep in mind that the Buckeyes destroyed Northwestern - and Northwestern beat Michigan State. Ohio State might get beat by Penn State, Illinois, or Michigan. But not Michigan State.

I don't think that Ohio State will tank it to Michigan State, but a loss later in the season is likely. BC might be bumped up to number one in another week, but only because they are undefeated from playing relative nobodies. We'll just see how they do against VA Tech in a week.

Ohio State will kill the MSU team that lost to Northwestern. Anyone who says OSU will 'likely' lose later in the season should have their internet revoked. NOTHING they've done this season indicated anyone can beat them.

Every team they have left has lost to at least one mediocre team, and has done nothing to indicate they can beat the Buckeyes. Michigan has struggled in several games since they played App St and Oregon. They're not any better than the team last lost the first game, and Jim Tressel OWNS Michigan. I don't care if Michigan is #1 in the country and Ohio State is 0-11 going into the game, nobody with a brain can pick Michigan to beat Ohio State until they prove they can do it.

Nothing's a lock, but the most LIKELY scenario is that Ohio State runs the table and ends up in the BCS championship game.

Once Boston College loses (the WILL lose, don't worry), the rankings will basically be "reset". The best teams (LSU,Florida, USC) will start bubbling back to the top. If Ohio State loses and USC and LSU/Florida win out, then that will be your national title game.

Trust me, Michigan will win. They need to make up for App State, and the only REAL way to do that and satifisy the maize and blue faithful is to beat their archrivals.
