What a perculiar question. Voltage and energy are separate things. Voltage is electrical pressure. You are either thinking of an electromagnetism device (bit like a giga-counter or a radio with a meter on it) or an electro-static device but as to their performance for paranormal hunting...goodness knows. The paranormal isn`t recognised by the scientific community.

In order to use a voltage meter for ghost hunting, you would need either empirical evidence or deduction from theory to show that a gradient in electropotential of conducting surfaces is correlated with spirit activity. But since neither a empirical or theoretical justification presently exists, then using a voltage meter to find ghosts is no more justified than using a dowsing rod or a piece of spaghetti.

This is the problem with using EMF meters for ghost hunting as well. There is no theoretical justification for using them, so the only justification can come from correlating EMF readings with subjective ghost activity. The problem is that such studies are poorly controlled, the ghost activity is not an objective occurrence, and EMF readings tend to be observed with a confirmation bias.

You're correct when you say a voltage meter detects electricity. However, it detects nothing else. What are you looking for? A ghost? Who or what says you can find or detect a ghost using such instruments?

well in a manner of speaking yes you could. If you were investigating a property that is not supposed to have any power that would be a good way to tell for sure that no power is running. But you cannot use it in the course of a normal investigation. You are thinking of an emf meter.

I don't know about a voltage meter.. but I know first hand you can use infrared to see them ghosts because they're trapped in the infrared plane.

Well I guess you could use it. It would be as effective as any other ghost hunting software from meditation, to diving rods, to an Ouija board, to whatever other gizmos people will believe may have some realistic ghost hunting purpose.

Sure, you can use a dirty ash tray as well. You'll get the same results from both in finding "ghosts". Knock yourself out.
