Remember those illustrations!!! I'd love to get a tattoo of one of those.
Which one was your favorite story? Or which book of the series?

Yeah! Good books. I think I remember two bride stories, one who got locked in a trunk and the other one who got buried alive. And the O'Leary/O'Reilly and Woman of Leeds songs.

The illustrations were my favorite part. All of the details were done with a very fine pen, like the strands of hair of that freaky zombie woman on the cover?! Those were really awesome illustrations.
I can't remember all of the stories, but ones that I remember are "The Viper," the story that repeats the phrase "Lynchy Kinchy Collie Mollie Dingo Dingo," and a poem or song called "The Hearse."

Yes, I read them again recently. For some reason, the story I always remember is "Sam's New Pet" from the third book-- about the boy who gets a pet dog and it turns out to be a sewer rat with rabies. I also like "The Bride" from book two. When I was younger, I had a trunk in my attic that closed and locked easily, and I always thought about the bride hiding in a trunk and dying. I stayed away from that trunk.

I do! My cousin and I found one of mine in the garage about a month ago.. Those illustrations used to scare me when I was little... but now they are kinda cool looking. The Girl Who Stood on a Grave from the first book is the one that stands out in my mind.
Lots of the pics are here.. if you don't have the books handy

I think this one came from the second book...
It's called Haunted House. About a priest that goes into this so called "haunted house" to try to scare the ghost that haunts it. They had this REALLY creepy picture of this girl with fussed hair, rotting flesh, nasty teeth, etc., taking up a whole page. To be honest, it was scary as hell.
