It's just an all around bad idea. What, some of the Super Bowl players won't be able to go and play for fun. The NFL does not need to be like MLB. How can the All Star Game be called that when some of the stars are getting ready for the World Series and not playing? Anyway, the Super Bowl has always been played in warm weather. The fans, that can afford to go to watch the biggest game of the year, would like to be able to move around without being so bundled up they can't move because it's 40 below and they have turned into Popsicles, it could happen in some cases. The game wouldn't be as much fun if your cold. It needs to stay the way it is. The city that hosts the Super Bowl plans for it all year. They won't have anything ready. Nobody will be able to get a hotel room with only a weeks notice. Sorry - but that is a very bad idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in the early Middle Ages, before there was a Super Bowl, the teams in the playoffs played at the stadium of the team with the better record as they do now in the playoff games before the Super Bowl. There were numerous games in which the NFL championship was played in Green Bay, Minnesota (before the dome), and even in New York. Usually the team opposing them was Dallas or Los Angeles for some reason. After the game, in which the cold weather team generally won, the frozen Cowboy or Ram players would be shipped back to Dallas or LA to thaw out in time for training camp. Similar games have been played in Cincinnatti against San Diego and Miami in sub zero wind chill factor conditions and in Foxboro, Mass against Oakland and Indianapolis. The football owners want the Super Bowl to be played under ideal weather conditions that do not favor either side. Just ask a Raider fan about conditions in Massachusetts during the playoffs.

So wait, if I understand the question correctly... you are saying the with the winning conference should get the Super Bowl played in their city.
OK, there are a number of problems with that.
If the team with the winning conference gets the Super Bowl in their city, that means the city only has a days to set up the biggest game in all of sports. So that means everything would be slapped together. Everything from the half time show to the ticket selling.
Another thing, if the Jets or the Bills or some team up north got to go to the Super Bowl all the fans that go, don't want to sit in the snow or cold @$$ weather. Yeah I'm sure the fans of the home team wouldn't care about sitting in the snow to see their team play but they are not going to sitting in the stands because the Super Bowl is attending by fans that have money and I'm sure they don't want to sit in snow.

Because it is a worse idea than moving the Super Bowl to London!
Super Bowl is fine by alternating home teams every year (one year AFC, next year NFC). Baseball's idea is dumb.
Hockey, baseball, and basketball can do their all-star games in middle of the season because there seasons are too long.
Just get rid of the Pro Bowl game itself. Have players be named to the Pro Bowl, that is an honor itself. Lots of players who get selected to the Pro Bowl do not even play in the game itself!!

The Superbowl is awarded to a city several years in advance. This is done so that the networks and sponsors can make suitable plans regarding travel, hotel, ground transportation and other logistics. The stadium also needs the time to make stadium improvements. The city has to develop parking, and traffic plans and security details.
Those are the reasons the NFL gives for awarding the Superbowl years in advance. I think it is a sham so the NFL can soak the city and team for fees and the stadiums can soak the cities and it all is paid for by the taxpayer.
The World Series has three times the amount of travel and 4 to seven times the amount of games and the games get played without any significant difficulties.

Because that is the stupidest thing MLB ever did and the NFL is way to smart for that kind of stuff. The pro bowl is for fun, a chance to watch the best players in the league play for fun without all the pressure of having to win! The NFL system is fine baseball is the ones ruining their sport with bush league antics.

Business wise, that would be a good decision because more people would watch the pro bowl, which would attract advertisers. And everyone knows that major advertising corporations pay big bucks to run their ads.
This decision involves business. They try to make more money, but don't want to ruin traditions. Also, the super bowl generates LOTS of revenue. They want to hold that event in a city that can provide the setting for this kind of profits.

That wouldn't be fair to the other team - and the NFL doesn't want the Super Bowl to be in just any city. They don't want it played in freezing weather either. That's why if it's not in Florida or Southern California, it's played in a stadium with a dome.

get real. thats a bogus rule the car salesman in milwalkee added. the super bowl has to be in a warm climate or a dome. i'm not saying it's right but nfl football is all about marketing and ad sales so they want their over hyped silly game in a nice environment.
actually, the nfl should do away with the pro bowl. contracts are too big and players are to important to risk in a demo game. i havent watched a pro bowl game in 10 years and havent missed it. it is the most useless all star game there is.

Because you can't find a "NFC fan" or an "AFC fan", there are just team fans, no conference fans, so the pro-bowl will never be a game in which the win really counts.
