Pride is usually self-centered ego and causes us to make selfish decisions without even realizing it. Sometimes that causes problems regarding others, and a life lived by selfish motives always ends in failure.

Because only God can humble us. Once he does, pride vanishes and we see who we really are, flat on our face in front of God full of sin and repentence. Thank God for his grace in Christ Jesus.
