Its a very serious question, Americans Presidents have been all White Anglo-Saxon Protestants. All with southern accents. One exception President Kennedey. And look what happened to him.
Does anyone think an Italian-American, a tough NYER - who went through the City College system, son of Italian Immigrants will be president?
Is southern and middle class America ready for that?
Don't they hate NYC and NY Italians?
Be Honest.

I'm Italian from NYC and he was my Mayor for a long time, I know how the mid west and south think about us. Their pretty racist people. So why would they vote for Rudy? Its almost laughable.

why'd you have to go and make it an Italian-American thing? It's not a racial issue.

Hmm ... I'm from the south. So exactly how is it that I view Mr. Guiliani? Why don't you tell me, then we'll both know.
You're calling everyone else in the US discriminatory and prejudicial; yet you're doing the same thing by calling mid-westerners and southerners racist toward Italian-Americans.
Personally, I respect Mr. Guiliani very much, and so do many of my friends. Friends from all over the US, including the south, mid-west, and middle class families.
And let's see ... Ronald Reagan didn't have a southern accent. Neither did Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, or Franklin D. Roosevelt. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that Lincoln didn't have a southern accent either; nor did Grant or Washington.
And Kennedy was far from being the only President to have been assassinated.

Your question is fraught with condescension and racist underpinnings. I am from the South, I am firmly ensconced in the middle class and I am married to a New Yorker. I do not care about a person's race, color or gender. What I am looking for is their leadership ability, how they will effect my life specifically and the overall welfare of the country in general. Additionally, you really need to learn more about Presidential politics if you think Kennedy was the only president without a southern accent. I'll name 3 who didn't below just to get you started in the right direction.
Theodore Roosevelt
Richard Nixon
Franklin Roosevelt
And the list goes on!
Edit: So you have been treated bad by Southerners have you? Well I am betting it is more related to that all too obvious chip on your shoulder than anything to with your ethnic heritage or place of residence.

Most of our Presidents have had a few characteristics in common:
1. Male
2. White
3. Of English Heritage - with a few exceptions (Roosevelt for example)
4. Protestant - One exception
5. From the Ivy League Establishment - with exceptions, but almost always with influencial staff with this chracteristic
6. Come from a family with a political history - very few exceptions
You have a point, there are certain groups of people who just don't become President thus far, Ethnics (not even White Ethnics), Women, Catholics, Atheists, Jews, people who went to "state schools".
I honestly think Hillary has a better chance of winning, which is good. I wouldn't want that 'Jersey type for a head of state anyway.

Rudy Giuliani became into the worst mayor ny city ever had. He offered each and each of the genuine belongings around cases sq. to builders, and now the as quickly as culturally booming cases sq. area feels like each and every mall in any midwestern city. He claimed he became into cleansing up prepared crime in NYC, yet all he did became into placed some Italian mobsters in penitentiary, and make the Russian and chinese language mobs richer. And thus far as his political judgment - Rudy thought we would desire to continually build an anti-terrorism headquarters in NYC, so he did. you recognize the place he outfitted it? it extremely is nice, on the third floor of the worldwide commerce middle. What a genius.

I think it'd be great to have a prez of Italian descent, if only it weren't Giuliani, or anyone who's as much of a tool as he is.
I doubt most folks are concerned about the backgrounds of the candidates at this point. They all have so many huge obvious strikes against them, record-wise, platform-wise, and character-wise, that ethnicity or national origin seems incredibly trivial. If this were 1992, it might well turn people off him -- but I think no more than, say, Al Gore's background did for him.

Why should you base a campaign on a gonerra like race? You're the epitome of the small minded voters. You're entire question is biased with stereotypes.

Being italian has nothing to do with why most people don't like him. He used the travesty of 9/11 for personal gain. That doesn't sit well for most people.
