All I can remember is I loved them and they talked very strange. It seems when I find some online now, they have modernized the words and I'd like to read what my mom read. I don't want to reference to the Disney movie, I'd like to see or read a section from ones produced when my mom could have easily found these books and read them to me in the 1950's, Any literary help here, please don't guess to get points, unless you think you really have something to contribute, I just need a good strong lead in where to search and what search words and ?? all I have is my child's eye view, but I have a great memory .

The author wrote six or more series books of short stories called "The Uncle Remus Tales", many stories had Brer Rabbit, but not all of them. But they are all similar in nature. It became very hard to find since many political black people felt that it wasn't sufficiently harsh on the plantation system(Which is why the Disney movie is still banned) even though most of the stories are African in origin, changed to the Antebellum southern setting. The author's name was Joel Chandler Harris, a Georgian. The books were called "Uncle Remus' Tales" collectively, though the individual books had separate titles, and you can still find relatively cheap copies, but I'd buy the book that has the complete and original ones since there were a number of abridged versions. You should be able to find it through Amazon.com or Abebooks.com. One warning though, the dialect is hard to read in the original. Most good editions come with a glossary.
