has anyone ever had an agency refuse to respond?I've been trying to recieve info from the Omaha Police Department for over a year.I know that I am entitled to the requested info and that they in fact have it.I sent them several letters of request but, they didn't respond until I sent the F.O.I.A form letter. At first they acted like they would help but, they eventually blew me off and said"they have murders and stuff to worry about"
In other words I guess I need to know how to force them to comply. Thanks for those of you with Real Knowledge of this situation that can help.

That is a criminal offense for not giving the FOIA look it up and give them a copy showing you know the law and what/where they will be fined for it. each State has theirs and then the Federal statutes Title codes. once you have these and they still refuse then go to the District Attorney's office and file a complaint against the offending officer.
They cannot deny info about you unless there is an investigation in progress or for national security

I filed some against two judges and three code enforcement officers and a cop . They didn't like it but by law they had to show the info. there are certain info that cannot be released like s.s. # home addresses (safety issues) but I got two to four pages of info on each. the secretary that had to look these up told me she didn't like this and wouldn't give me all the info , I told her to include her name on the list too , she cried about it.and gave me more info than I was seeking. but next time I came in she went out of her way to help me.
