The more we, nurses knw about human behaviors and its environments( including their cultures, values, norms, beliefs, traditions, religion,...political systems etc...) the better we can understand more ...and respond to their needs....

Nursing is about caring for people. Anthropology is the study of people. Sociology is the study of society; which is where all people live.

Taking courses like those makes for a holistic education: ie. emphasizing the whole and the interaction of the parts.

When a person is ill, it affects the dynamics of the whole family, so the charge nurse wants to be aware of those changes as it affects health care. I didn't take any anthropolgy in school.
