the - is takeaway not minus...

I think the answer is = 12y^2 -8y

but ime not quite sure, please tell me where i went wrong

You need to take in consideration of the NEGATIVE 4.
If you multiply a positive by a negative the answer is negative
And If you Multiply a negative by a negative the answer is a positive.

so the answer should look like
-12y^2 + 8y

1st u've got to know that (-ve) * (-ve) = +ve

so
-4*(3y^2 - 2y) = (-4) * (3y^2) + (-4) * (-2y)
= -(12y^2) + 8y (Ans)
