Well, I don't consider myself "elderly" but will assume you are young enough to think I might be...anyway.....
Right now is the best time in my life. I am finally the person I always wanted to be....
In my 20's, I enjoyed being a mother, housewife and doing those domestic things.
In my 30's, I enjoyed freeing my mind and expanding my horizon by finding a wonderful and exciting career that entranced me for 32 years.
In my 40's, I finally reached my full potential as a woman. I realized my worth, developed wonderful friends - both male and female. Explored my sexuality and found out how dumb I had been for the past 20 years. I became my own person.
In my 50's, I added to my personal growth and became truly a liberated person. Such satisfaction I found by seeing my adult children turn into wonderful human beings - and I could pat myself on the back for that. I did one he11 of a good job there. I also learned that grandchildren own your heart.
Now nearing the end of my 60's, I have learned that you can't take it with you so you might as well go on a cruise - or travel to Europe - or take a 30 day Amtrak trip. I now know that Oreo cookies won't kill you, ice cream is not sinful and you can eat as much as you want at midnight.
I now know that nobody gives a dam if I don't feel like making my bed first thing in the morning - or later.
I know and enjoy the freedom of staying up until 4:00am and sleeping til noon if I want.
I am having the time of my life. Would I want to "go back" to another age. Not on your life.... my mother always told me that growing older was a wonderful thing...such freedom....and she was right.

I'm 51, I enjoy this decade, though it's just started. I didn't like my 40's at all, suddenly I felt old. Now I'm more comfortable with my age and myself. I don't worry so much about what others think of me, I just want to be the best me I can, whatever my age. I've realized how precious time is, it's never guaranteed. It quietly slips away, until it's gone. So I value every second I have with those I love and hope that during my small moment in time here, I will leave this world just a little better for having had me in it.

I guess my thirties. I received a commission from the ranks in the Navy a little over one month past my thirty-first birthday. It started me on a whole new phase in my life and brought me back to Japan twice in the nine years which followed. The last time with my entire family for a period of three years.

It has to be the one I'm in now, my seventh decade. I no longer am slave to the clock, I no longer answer to a boss, I eat when I'm hungry instead of because the clock says if I don't do it now I can't for another four hours.
I've always tried to take good care of my body, but I'm not fanatical about it, so my health is relatively good.
The main thing is that now my life revolves around what I want to do, not what I have to do.

I think l've enjoyed every decade for different reasons.
twenties - having kids
thirties - raising them
forties - became a grandmother at 43
fifties - watching grandchildren grow
sixties - still watching them
worked from 30 til 61 and had good friends.
have close friends now
so all my years have been good

I'm not sure if I can answer your question. What do you consider elderly?
I will say that each decade gets better! I'm in my fourth decade and things are great!

I'm only 25, but i'm going to answer any way, as i'm currently experiencing my 3rd decade, i feel my input is valid.
I would also have to say the decade i'm in now. It's amazing to look back and see how naive you were about things before. Each year, you learn how to appreciate things more, and you see things differently.
