Like so many things in life there are those times when I can't say "no", and then there are those times when I am screaming it from the roof tops

Yes I've learned to say no. I had to in order to maintain my self respect,to set boundries which others. Although maybe begrudgingly,others will come to respect and look up to you. If they don't you really haven't lost a friend. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. True friends come from sticking to your principles. You will feel an inner strength you never felt. Your opinions will matter. People will trust you. I could go on but I think you get the idea.

To people close to me, no.
To my husband, never.
To my family, sometimes I actually can.
To my children, when sensibility calls for it, I bite my lip hard, and say no. Sometimes, with my daughter, I cry too. I think that has convinced her that I only say no when I have to, not because I want to.

I'm beginning two. One to many salesmen thinking I'm easy prey. Next guy to come at me with a clipboard and a sales pitch is going to end up with my canvas around his neck...

Huh-uh! Can't do it. I can't even say it to sales people, so I just have to hang up on them because I've heard they have to hear "no" 3 times before they stop pestering you. I am working on it though!
