It's a travesty that a person is treated like that. The misunderstanding is one thing, but the refusal to look at her ID when offered is intolerable.

How do you know she's a feminist? I'd say that it is YOU who are making judgements based on appearence.
Seriously though- The bouncer was clearly in the wrong for not being willing to check the persons identification and then applogizing. However, the bouncer did exactly as he should have done...imagine the uproar if there was a man who went into the womens bathroom and the bouncer saw them do it and did nothing? That would be a bad situation. These kinds of things are going to happen from time to time and just letting everyone go along without being questioned ever, out of fear of offending someone will lead to worse problems.
On an interesting side note, I have never ever seen a woman get any kind of flak from anyone for being in a men's room, so I doubt the gender swapped version of this scenario would apply. Not that I'm saying women shouldn't mind men being in their bathroom...they should.

I remember reading in the late 1970s that singer/actress Grace Jones used to have a problem with this. She's very tall and androgynous looking and women used to freak out when they saw her in the women's restroom. Then when she had a son by her French boyfriend, people used to think she stole him because even though he was racially mixed, he appeared to be white. The moral of this story is that people aren't always what they seem to be and don't make snap judgments about them. You're likely to be wrong and it makes you look very stupid and foolish.

how does this make her a feminist? she's a cross dresser, isn't she?
and why can't she use the men's room and why can't male cross dressers use the women's room?
they will portray themselves as women and would like to be seen as women and treated as such. why would they stop there? it's funny that she said
“I just make the correction because I don’t want anybody to be under the misconception of me being somebody that I’m not.”
isn't she portraying herself as something she is not? a man? evidently she would like to be seen as one. but not treated as one?
either way, the bouncer didn't have to check her ID. he knew she was female. he was just being a punk. ...............why do we have separate bathrooms, anyway. are we not equal? stop pinning me into a gender role. geeeeeee
i'm ready for you thumbs down.

I think that feminists who adopt masculine characteristics and appearance should wear something to identify them as feminist women so there is no confusion in future.
