We can't really tell unless you give us the exact model numbers of the processors, although generally, Intel Core 2 is considered better than AMD Athlon.

The Core 2 Duo at a given clock speed (or power consumption or price) will beat the equivalent Athlon with no trouble.

It probably makes little difference, but the AMD processors are better for graphics, whereas Intel would be better for other uses and programs.

Actually, you want to specify "Athlon X2" since there are single core Athlons.

Intel generally has alittle better performance right now than AMD but AMD uses alittle let power.

In actual practice, its probably hard to tell the difference...

Mostly Intel processors are good for graphics & multimedia purposes comparitively. If you are not using much of graphics & multimedia apps - then go for AMD for speed.
