I went to the doctor because I was having bad cramps along with an unusual pain that felt like was in the ovaries. The flow was heavy and I had a burning sensation during those few days. So the doctor gave me BC pills. Now that my mom knows about it, she is furious why the doctor gave me BC pills when I am not sexually active. Any thing that I can tell her so she would believe me? ...Even I am curious why she didn't give me something else.

Thank you all so much...it really helps.
Snd those of you who were asking...
Well, i didnt tell my mom before going to the doctor. I told her plenty of times about my cramps, but I always tried to control it and not whine a lot. So she thinks it's not necessary for me to be n the pill. So now that she knows she is being completely ridiculous.

I think you and your mother should go together to speak with the doctor before you start taking the pills.
Sometimes, (this is not medical advice so don't take it as the final word, ok) but your doctor may have prescribed BC pills hoping it will help regulate your body and decrease a heavy flow. You don't have to be sexually active and your doctor may just want to see if the problem can be solved this way instead of more serious solutions.
As I stated earlier, you and your mother should go speak with your doctor and ask questions, such as: What might be causing your periods to be so heavy? What is the next step if the BC pills do not regulate your periods? How long will you have to take the pills before your doctor wants to see you again?
This is important for both you and your mother to be involved with, father too if he's up to it.
Good luck hon.

You do NOT have to be sexually active to take birth control pills. Some doctors prescribe them to regulate your period. How old are you? If your mom is so furious about the BC pills, then why didn't she go to the doctor with you?

the birth control pills will regulate your periods, they will help the pain and hopefully help you to feel better during this time. My daughter is also not sexually active but they put her on birth control also, I am OK with it because I talked to the doctor about it, and he explained to me why. She has felt much better during her period. She only has a little bit of pain now. Her flow is much lighter and actually her period only lasts for 3 days now. So good luck to you....I hope it helps you as much as it did my daughter.
I hope your Mom understands as well......

A lot of people who are not sexually active and are not planning to be take oral contraceptives for a variety of reasons . The progestin (synthetic progesterone) in the pill reduces cramps and heavy bleeding. The pill has been shown to relieve endometriosis and decreases the chances of benign breast design. It reduces the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer. It can clear acne. It has also been approved to treat Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, a mood disorder that can be likened to a much more severe version of PMS.

She probably gave you birth control pills because, although you aren't sexually active, they do help with cramps and helping your period so it's not so heavy.
I went on the pill before I was sexually active for my period, and it helped a ton. My cramps weren't nearly as bad as they used to be, and they helped regulate my cycle.

People on birth control pills don't have cramps as bad. He would put you on them if he couldn't find anything wrong. If you are under age 18 he can tell your mom that himself so she will believe it.

Birth control helps regulate your period.
It makes it less painful, less heavy, all around better.
Google "birth contol alleviates period symptoms", and tell your mom to read the info.
She's being ridiculous, I mean, really.
