They treat you with RESPECT, Dignity, LISTEN to you (with interest), want to be with you (no strings attached), and are willing to be OPEN about their lives/background ..
(also ... they do NOT push you on anything -- no demands, no inappropriate or unwanted touching, etc).

Spend time as friends first to get to know the real person, not just their best representative whom you always meet first...
There are some good answers here that I agree with, I won't repeat those, but I look for the INTEGRITY of the person, how high or low is it? That you can only tell after getting to know someone well, and I don't mean sexually.

Well for sure if they have a "Free to be me" attitude, that makes them perfect. LOL

What matters is heart and soul, above all. After that, I would say can you easily talk to them and them to you? After looks fade, you will need to be able to get along with each other so this is key. Not everyone realizes that and they only look for the outer beauty, when inner beauty should also be considered and is actually far more important in the grand scheme of things.

If you feel like you can talk to them easily, and honestly. If I've known them for a long time, and we can laugh about past experiences together, then that makes them a good candidate.
Over all though, I think if I can be myself around him, and if he can make me laugh, they're worth dating! :) Also, I like a good personality, i like if he's loyal to everyone, not only me, no cussing, he has to have respect for me, and nothing that makes me feel uncomfortable... ya know what i'm talking about.
