when did Keiko the killer whale die and when did this happen and why ?

i watched the whole thing where they saved him and put him in a big nice tank and was going to put him back with his family/pod and then nothing i just found out he died ,its so sad

Yes, its so sad..The 26 (27?) years old Keiko died last December 12,2003 (in a bay of Norway ) due to sudden attack of pneumonia. It was said that Keiko did not show any sickness earlier, then he showed being sick suddenly and died the following day.
