I will include Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi Silver, Zima, etc. in this question.

Just to be fair, my favorite is Woodchuck Draft Cider -- the Granny Smith is good but the Amber Cider is aaahhhhhhh yeah! In moderation, thank you!

(Sucks for me -- it's also the most expensive 6-pack where I shop. That's why it appears in my fridge roughly once every other month.)

Side note for all you Canadian beer fans -- a friend of mine played hockey in Winnipeg for a few years and came back with this gem:

"How is American beer like having sex in a boat?"

"Both are f-----g near water!" (Pardon my French, but it's funny!)

These days I make my own beer and cider (no additives, no preservatives, no chemical agents, about 1/10th the price you pay in the shops).

My favorite lager at the moment is a very deadly concoction called "White Witch" which is essentially a Bavarian Wheat Beer (wheat ,hops) mixed with 2 parts honey unrefined (our neighbor keeps bees) to one part sugar. It packs a certain punch, about 8.4% abv..so you can't drink too much of it in the one sitting.

For ciders, its hard to find a good kit, and I would recommend the New Zealand Black Rock as a personal favourite. It brews a very dry cider, about 4.4% abv. Add honey to make a stronger cyser (are you spotting a pattern?)

The final favorite of choice is home made mead (which we're aiming to produce commercially within a year or 2) which is honey and herbs. Very good medicinal qualities too.

For bought ciders, if you can get them in your part of the world, heck, even IMPORT them - Gaymers Original Olde English Cyder (nectar) and Bullmers Original (not bad).

You know...a little alcohol can get the creative juices flowing too....

Write that novel!

Hmmph. These days I don't drink beer or wine; I don't smoke s---t.( to paraphrase a vampire's words) As I recall from days of yore, I used to prefer Olympia Beer.Tried Foster Ale once, gagged. Nasty tasting stuff. Live in the US, never drank any other countries libations. Always wanted to taste some mead. Ah well. Maybe in another lifetime.
