Sounds to me like he is. And she's being a Stepford Wife to accomodate him....if she's content, that's her business. If she's not, then you can only help her if she asks for the help or advice.

Yeah, he sounds controlling alright. You said, "We took her for lunch on her B'day he took her cell phone left the house want's a divorce." And I could barely understand it, but regardless of who wants the divorce, it seems like a good idea for both of them. He can find another puppet, and she can leave him. I think it would be best for her simply to just kick him out. He certainly doesn't deserve to have the kids or even the pets...Wishing her good luck!

This woman is not going to grow old! He is only treating her this way because she lets him get away with it! How on earth does she manage to keep her job? Maybe a separation is in order until they can talk about what he is doing to her - I would encourage her to get herself in a transition home with her kids and take it from there. Not going to be easy for her either way. Does she have a family to go back to? He won't let her keep her job! Hope if she can stand her ground he might come to his senses. What a marriage!

I would say he is very controoling.my sister is in somewhat of a relationship like this.it's very hard seeing this but we have to realize that's there marriage .I try not to intervene.she dosen't want us to.I have come to grips if she likes it then who am I.I would say be ther for youf friend.sometimes it's frustrating to even be around the person that is taking such treatment from there husband, but if they won't leave what can we do but be there for them .when things crumble and she's ready to put some action just help her by being ther and encouraging her.

OMG, yea just a tad... This sounds like a lifetime movie story where when she tries to leave him he tries to kill her... He is impossible, and very insecure. I wonder if he is abusive? If not yet, he is on the path to being that way. She should RUN, RUN like the wind!!!

You can't get much more controlling than that. If he wants a divorce I would say good riddance. That is not any kind of life to live.

definitely, no woman should be treated that way. I would sit down with her and have a serious conversation, and make sure that he is not doing anything else to her, that she may be hiding.
