I love the name Brooke, Cassandra, Taylor, Genesis, and Courtney, although these are not rare. LOL. Take your maiden name and mix it with your grandmothers name or in laws last name. Our family took the maiden name of the grandmother, and the other from the mother for the childs first names, we now have a Gavin and a Courtney sometimes that might not sound so good but your family may have some unique last names you should look into those as first names to see how creative you can get. MIX AND MATCH!

i have a "unique" name and here is my advice: give her something unique, but make it a "real" name. don't make something up, spell a real name a made up way or just add crazy letters together. the reason for not doing this is she will have to live with it--- not you.

i am now 35 years old and having a madeup name has affected my whole life- from trying to make friends in school to professional situations. remember, your daughter is going to have to put this name on a resume some day!!

there are a lot of names out there that are different. my son's name is Truitt. it's a real name, but very uncommon. it sounds like it's spelled and is definitely a boy's name.

one good way to find unique names is to go to the census website and look at some of the popular names at the turn of the last century. "old lady" names are now very upscale (julia roberts daughter is hazel, jennifer garners daughter violet). for girls we liked Pearl, Iris and Laurel,, but we had a boy so oh well!!

Well my name is Zara and I've been told its pretty unique. I was named after Princess Ann's daughter Zara Jane Phillips. My mom really liked the name. It also means "bright as the sun" in greek. And its not a weird unique and no one I've known has had any trouble pronouncing it. Although some people will ask me if its pronounced like "Sarah" accept with a "Z" I know in europe they pronounce it like "Sarah" every where else its (za-R-ah)
