Americans objectify their women. Make them believe their worth is based on looks, playboy covers but not on character or personality.
Americans downgrade women so much, they are afraid to have a female president.
Even Muslim countries have had a female Prime Minister. Whats wrong with this picture?

Is that why a lot of men from around the world want to marry an American woman because of her looks. You and ever man that thinks like you are nothing but hypocrites. Any man that says he doesn't care what his wife looks like is lying. All men want to marry a pretty woman. ALL MEN !!

No, Americans don't really objectify their women. American MEDIA objectifies them, but in everyday life, that's not at all the way it happens. Trust me, I'm an American woman! I'm not that pretty, DEFINITELY not skinny (and love it), and men seem to love me. I just have a bunch of confidence and a great personality (I would be my own best friend if I could, except it would get a little lonely)...so don't get the wrong idea. As for not having a female president...well, we haven't had a decent woman candidate! The governor of Alaska is a woman, and if she ran for president, I would vote for her! Look at everyday Americans and not the media image, and you'll see the truth. Have fun looking!

It's ridiculous to call some Muslim countries, who are well known for at the very least restricting their women, and at the worst denying them fundamental human rights (by our standards) more gender-progressive than here.

As a woman, I honestly can't say that I've ever felt particularly held back or objectified by my gender. I've had the education I wanted (and deserved), and hang out with wonderful people of both genders who don't judge me for having a vagina. As I enter the working world, I fully expect to be able to pursue a career with all the promotions I DESERVE, equal to those of a male version of myself. I expect these things, and will settle for nothing less. If I'm ever confronted with sexism, I will make a righteous fuss and set the ACLU on the offending party's butt. However, the fact that I've grown up completely free of these problems tells me that in America (or at least where I live), something's going right for women.

Oh, and if girls want to flaunt their body in Playboy, then lovely, let them. I won't. On the other hand, if I want to stare at half-clothed Chippendales in Vegas, I'll do it, without worrying whether I'm turning men into sex objects.

I'm 36 and I've seen it all. Americans don't hate women. Stuff like this has been going on since Adam & Eve. That's how alot of men think, that a woman has be a certain way for a man to be happy. I totally disagree. I would only want my girlfriend to strip if SHE wanted to and not because I said so.

American women have the CHOICE to be in magazines, t.v. shows, MTV videos, etc... Americans don't hate women. I really wish people would quit blaming the media and entertainment industries. Last time I checked women allow themselves to be degraded. If us women, that's right folks I'm a woman, would take responsibility for our own choices or actions we wouldn't have half the problem we have with the sexism and downgrading of women. It's the same concept as supply and demand. If women are willing to degrade themselves then they will be degraded. Just like the saying "All men are dogs". That's entirely not true.

I wouldn't say Americans hate their women, or maybe they do but I rather live here than some place where I: had to cover myself from head to toe, couldn't have an ID of my own, would have to go out only with a male relative, would not be allowed to marry who I want, would be stoned to death if I was raped!!!, would not be able to drive my own car, would not be allowed to go to school, would not be allowed to have a job or not the job that I wanted, would lose my kids to the husband if I divorced, couldn't vote.

I think even with all that "hate" women have it pretty good in the US.

I'll agree that our media, advertising industry, and even the younger more foolish college crowd does objectify women. Most of the rest of us, don't buy into that. As far as a woman president, I have no problem with that at all, and most people who have a problem with Hillary disagree with her policy and not her gender.

Of course if all you do is watch propaganda and biased news on tv your going to think that, its the same reason we think most of the rest of the world are torturing family ruiners.

well, the thing is, america can objectify all it wants to with magazines and whatnot, but that doesn't have any bearing on how i view myself. i am not a size 0. i am overweight. but i am a dam sexy woman. we are not afraid to have a woman president, give us about a year and we will have one. how can you even compare us to muslim countries when most the men in muslim countries think they own their wife.
