It is very good. Michael Crighton set out to write a book about global warming and the research he did caused him to see that the way it was portrayed was a falacy.

I thought State of Fear was an ok read. As others have said, it's about differing views on global warming. The book describes global warming from the view of the scientists and how that's different from the 'popular' theory believed by the public and media. As is the case with Crichton's novels, it's a thriller with scientific data thrown in. I happen to enjoy this style of writing.

If you like Crichton's work, but are not sure you like the topic of this book, try some of his other books. Ones I've thoroughly enjoyed are: Sphere, Airframe, Prey, & Timeline.

If you're not a fan of Crichton's work, I'd suggest works by some of the following authors: Dean Koontz (Life Expectancy, the Taking, Odd Thomas) and David Baldacci (Split Second).

It is full of cr-p. Crichton has an axe to grind and he ignores evidence.

I don't care for much of his stuff, as he thinks he is cutting-edge, but just rehashes old science fiction themes with conservative viewpoints. His best book was Andromeda Strain, his first, and since then downhill.

it's pretty good, he's a great writer, but he should SERIOUSLY leave the politics out of it.

of course global warming could be fake, but we still shouldn't ravage our earth because we don't know for sure if it's really happening.
