I just bought my LX-7 last week and it's working just fine. Are you certain your power source is in range of the mouse so they connect? Are the batteries installed correctly and green light is on? Recheck all your connections and if al else fails call Logitech and/or send it back.

It might be that you have it pluged into the a USB 1.0 insted of the USB 2.0... In some cases if you have things pluged into the front USB of your computer, that it might be 1.0 and not 2.0.... If it pluged in the back USB of your computer then check you motherboard manual to see if the back USB 2.0 is there. If not I would check the mouse cover box or manual to see if it mentions anything about types of USB input. It could also be the wrong driver that you installed, but first start off looking into the USB version. Alos with most wireless devices they come with a button on the reciever. Try pressing the button down for about 5 seconds and wait 1 min and then try moving the mouse. Something the reciever is not communiting with the mouse cause it's on diffrent signal link.

On the receiver somewhere is a CONNECT button. And another on the mouse. You need to press both buttons (doesn't have to be at the same time) to connect the 2 components.

You may have it installed correctly but the opticals in the mouse may be damaged and the mouse is not "talking" to the receiver. Hopefully you do have the the receiver hooked up.
