I'm guessing it originally had to do with "brown nosing"

According to an article i read the other day, about 1200 Minor's went missing during the time Madeline has been gone. Iv always wondered why the media throw themselves into certain stories yet don't highlight the magnitude of missing people on a nationwide scale. Its the same with murders and rapes and other crimes, some are covered to the point of obsession, and some never make it into a paper. What determines which are more important? As for the charity work, its highly commendable, but is a selfless act which shouldn't really be advertised with figures etc. Keep it up though, pudsy needs a few quid of us all. Mick

I don't think that is the type of brownies that is referring to. It is referring to brown nosing.

i'm not sure where it originated, but brownies are sweet and good, so when you get brownie points, it means your getting something sweet and good for doing something sweet and good

nothing. brownie points are brown nose points. i.e. butt kisser points. think of why you get a brown nose when you are a butt kisser... 'nuff said!
