They were an unbelievable band. There's been no better rock band before or since. Their range was just huge. It's hard to be emphatic enough when describing that group. I'm 38 yrs old. The music is timeless. I listened to them in the 9th grade too. It gets better and better as you get older because your ability to appreciate the nuances of music will progress. Go buy an album, like Abbey Road, and listen to the whole thing at once. It's a creation that's way better than the sum of it's parts. Each song is great, but the album is a masterpiece. You know what I mean?

I was never much into the oldies until the last couple of years, and I've really grown an appreciation for, not only the Beatles, but a lot of the other "British Invasion" bands such as the Hollies, Herman's Hermits, Dave Clark Five, Searchers, etc.

Many of them influenced the bands we hear today and, of course, some are still going like The Rolling Stones.

I'm in my err..30somethings :)

The Beatles provided the soundtrack for a generation, and influenced almost everything in our culture in one way or another. Their music is representative of a time and place in our cultural history that will never be repeated. They were the biggest band in history when they were current, and they become more and more important as time goes on and those who were influenced by them grow older. Some people dont like their music, but hearing it brings back memories for almost everyone. As a ninth grader listening to them with a fresh mind, it will be hard for you to realize just exactly how historical they were, but they changed the world.

I am 19 and I think that they are the greatest band that ever was and they paved the way for generations of music and now a days you see bands putting out albums every couple years and making hits, but the beatles put out albums like twice a year and still made hits, they had 27 number one hits, all four men were successful after their breakup, their music is always remade...the beatles are just great!

Oh I love the Beatles. There is this cover band that came here not too long ago and it was like i was really watching the Beatles. I collect Beatles memorabilia. My mom remembers watching them the first time they where on the Ed Sullivan show. Whats your fave song? There are so many good ones, but i just love Hey Jude. If you really like them, you should see the movie "across the Universe"

They were influenced by African-American blues men and the 'new' (1960's) rock-n-rollers. They synthesized those styles and added a few new inventions of their own device and discovered an original sound. All of today's rock and roll, hard rock, metal, and what passes for country and western music for the most part have been influenced by The Beatles. (It was the Eagles who synthesized country with rock for the U.S. market).

I'm 53 and received my first Beatle album, Sgt. Peppers LHCB, on Christmas 1966 or 67. What ever year it was released on vinyl. And yes I do remember the first shows on Ed Sullivan. In black and white and all right. Mono speaker on the TV; rabbit-ear antenna; the whole 'shebang'.

I am 66, from Britain and now live in USA. I remember going to see the Beatles at Hammersmith Palladium (London) a long time before they were so famous! It was a huge thrill and my mother went with me. We had a great time and I have been a huge fan ever since that time.

I'm old enough to remember the Beatles the first time around. They were the biggest thing to hit the music scene and made the most changes. Their music is timeless and will be for a long, long time.

I'm glad to hear you love them too!

the Beatles were great and having lived thru that time, I was around when the albums, not cd's came out. no one can touch the beatles in terms of style, imagination and versatlity. every song was a hit, not just the one songer like most others. I am old enough to be your grandmother.....but my daughter is not old enough to be your mother :) keep listening to good music.
