The NFL is having a regular season game in London for the first time. Do the NHL and NFL have the same people working in their marketing departments or something? I mean, they sooo copied Crosby & Ovechkin's part of the "NHL Roadtrip" commercial with that Peyton Manning vs Reggie Bush commercial.

Everyone knows London is NHL territory!!

MIKE - LOL. I noticed that Snoop's question was quite a saga, so I stayed out of it. I'm going to have to agree with ya though, London really is hockeytown. ;)

LITY - Thaaank you. I was hoping you'd answer this. :)
ZTHER - Actually, I didn't mind the London game. If the NHL wants to have the opening season game overseas, (specifically Europe) that's great. There are NHL fans over there and certainly hockey fans over there.
JENNI - LOL. Nice play on words. Hehe.

Well, I was told that all the players sat down in an NHLPA meeting last year and Todd Fedoruk stood up and said "What is the one country in the world that we can go play in that we will have better looking teeth than all the fans?" ....and just then, Mike Ricci stood up and slurred "I know, England!" - and the idea was born.

(Or at least that's what I heard happened, I know this guy who works for the Islanders, he told me.)

If any of you had been there on that weekend you'd realize that the game was very well recieved at the O2. Hockey fans from all over Europe were in attendance... We were taking pictures outside Buckingham Palace in our NHL gear and people kept coming up to us to tell us they were in London for the two games.

To answer the question, it was some time during the Ducks run playoffs that the league announced it.

regrettably, i've got in no way been to an NHL pastime yet. i desire which will replace this season, perhaps i will make a take care of my dad that if i'm getting solid marks he will take me to a pastime. the pastime the place they're honouring Doug Gilmour (which you will) i could actually like to bypass then. even although I wasn't a hockey fan back while he performed for the Leafs i be attentive to he's a huge participant and the Leafs and Pens constantly have exciting video games against one yet another.

Gary Bettman secretly likes tea and crumpets and he really, really wanted some. This way, he could expense the trip instead of using personal funds to go there.
