Only over those who want money. It won't stop a tsunami from taking your house, a terrorist, not even the erosion of a canyon. What kind of power are you talking about anyway? I have money and electricity doesn't shoot out of my fingers, fireballs don't fly out of my eyes.

Almost all the answers are crazy. Money is power. It carriess with it no responsibility. Some rich and powerful like the Gates (Microsoft) carrie with them an inherent responsibility; Oprah pretends to do so, and the Bush's are not good in the least.
There are not many unmonied that gain much power and never to the degree that the very rich do.
Who can become president without the power of money?

Not so. Some have money and no brains to aquire power. Power is given to a person that can handle it. Otherwise others will take his money and laugh all the way to the bank.

Most people feel powerless when they are poor. Is that where your question is coming from?
The short answer is yes- But of course you feel the buying power that the possession of money gives you.
Money can buy food when you are hungry, a shelter above your head, transportation to get you from point A to point B.- etc.

the greater skill is to have power without others knowing. You don't need the money if you can get some one else to acoplish what you want done.
