The first two answerers were correct. When you think about how much someone in the USA pays for health insurance each month, though, and add that to the amount for gasoline, Canadians come out way ahead.

You in effect are paying for one of the best universal coverage health plans in the world every time you fill your gas tank.

And this all comes under the basic rule of economics - there ain't no free lunch.

Trivia - the number one exporter of petroleum products to the USA ? Canada, of course.

Canadians always pay more for everything including gas
government tax is a big part of it

Actually, I think the difference is that y'all pay more tax than we do. Here in California, we pay about 36.5 cents per gallon in federal and state taxes (this does not include state or local sales tax). Look into it - I believe that Canadians pay more tax than that.
