Fighting terriost should be about protecting our way of life, and protecting democracy. If freedom is the price to pay for fighting terrorist, then we have already lost.
It is not enough to just survive, but being something that is worthy of surviving.

People keep talking about the government is taking away my liberty.
oh I'm giving up my liberty.
Name the freakin liberty you had took or gave up.
So the NSA or CIA listens to phone calls between known terrorist and or their known associates and people in this country. You have a problem with that, WHY.
They are not taping calls between American citizens at home.
They are watching the Internet, like somebody owns the airwaves. I know most of the time I'm working on wireless connections that anyone can tap and does.
Jesus Christ the advertising companies are constantly data mining our mail and any credit card use not to mention anything you bu on line and now all of a sudden because of Harry Reid and some others of his ilk say oh my the sky is falling everybody freaks out because their taken or liberties.
That is the same Harry Reid that tried from the floor of congress to lam bast a talking head and then sent a letter to the guys BOSS trying to get him fired.
Show me chapter and verse what liberties we have lost.

Me not scared. If you look at probabilities, chances are almost 100% you'll live your life not being part of a terrorist attack, or even witnessing one. Always keep that in mind.
I don't understand the second part of your question, you seem to be asking if it's worth sacrificing your liberties on account of being scared of terrorists?

I am afraid of terrorists because they have vowed to destroy the west. Make no mistake, these people are sincere and are giving their lives every day to fulfill that mission. If we do not secure the oil fields we will all have a long walk to work, if we have a job. Yes, we will loose some liberties and right now it's a trade off. I personally can't think of any alternative.

I do not live in fear of terrorists and have seen none of my liberties sacrificed. I want my government to do its job of providing for the common defense. If that means that terrorists and their friends have no rights under the law, I am fine with that.

properly, the Bush administration set the precedent by making use of pushing the Patriot Act via, that's a miles greater eggregious attack on our civil liberties. To their credit, LIbertarians yelled approximately it, yet maximum Republicans, who for the reason that 9/11 have been wetting themselves on a daily foundation out of worry, desperate that civil liberties weren't properly worth getting worked up over. So definite, Obama is eroding states' rights AND our civil liberties, yet he's barely persevering with what the Bush/Cheney cabal began.

if we are scared of terorrists then by definition they have got what they wanted, power through fear and intimidation. i will not willingly sacrifice my liberties, but my liberties have already been sacrificed without my permission. i guess if i move to a different country where my liberties are respected then it would be less people fighting for this country, or any other country cutting peoples liberties.

If no one was afraid of them, they wouldn't be called "terrorists." As far giving up civil liberties, it depends on which ones and to what extent. Realistically, we give them up to a certain extent simply by living in a society with other people. There are certain things that you have to avoid doing or saying because of social as well as legal pressures. If giving up certain "rights" that we think we have now is going to make the world a better place then we should go for it. However, it would be much more important to find out why these 'terrorists" that you are referring to exist and how we as human beings (not as U.S citizens) can work things out with them rather than to just go into a war-like, defensive state.
