If the teacher hasn't recommended any pens to you, you could use your favorite. Are you using only one color? May you incorporate more that one type of pen? Do you need to have extra paper under your drawing or just something hard to 'tap' onto to prevent texturing?
[ do some experiments on scrap paper to get used to the various dot's sizes or thicknesses made by your pen[s] and if shading is necessary, how close or apart the stipples need to be for your effects.]

As my teacher suggested to us, if we chose to do stippling, we could bunch the pencils or pens w/a rubber band to lessen the boredom and finger/wrist cramping instead of just using one pen/pencil and cover a larger area. One could use one pen for the smaller more detailed areas and use the rubber band method for larger areas, of course.
Happy drawing!

For, virtually ALL my pen and ink work, I use Sharpie markers. They come in fine and extra fine sizes and are ideal for stippling, because they dry almost instantly and have less a tendancy to smear under my hand.

For an example, check out:

Click on the "commercial illustration" page and look at the "Cat," and "Fish" Illustrations. Both of those were created without the use of a single solid line. The Cat's eyes were colored in Photoshop, the Fish were inked on colored construction paper.

In the "fantasy and science fiction" section, look at "B Troop" for one done in full color.
