i have dish network dvr stalite ..... can you recorde one channel and watch a diff channel... like recorde "Last One Standing" and watch "UFC Fights"

you can as long as the tv you are watching it from isnt recording to that particular tv. Each DVR has a TV1 and a TV2, most consumers use TV 2 as their default. Whatever tv the box is actually hooked uo to will be considered TV 1 , the other tv that uses the same DVR will be 2.

You need a Dish set-top box with TWO tuners.
If your DVR has two tuners then yes, you can record one channel and watch a different one.
Or record two channels and watch a pre-recorded one.
