growing up playing baseball i always thought he home team no matter what sat on the first base side is it me or did they change the rule over the years

Years ago it was actually the third base side for the home team. There never has been a standard and it is left up to the individual teams to determine which dugout they want to occupy.

Each team decides whether it's dugout in it's home park will be on the first or third base side.

i am almost sure the home dugout is on first base side.

i think now it's still a matter of home feild advantage. but they could switch it around
