I have a Xbox 360 Pro Holiday Bundle on the way and this new version has HDMI. In my dorm I also have a Dynex 19" Widescreen Plat-Panel LCD HDTV that has a HDMI port. I was just wondering if I have to buy the Xbox branded HDMI cable because it is $50 and I see ones on ebay going for much cheaper.

Not using a X-Box cable can void the 360's warranty. But, no one is going to know whether you use it or not. The answer really is that it depends on whether the 360 that you get has a HDMI port or if it needs to connect through the AV connector. Normally, the 360 Elite is the only one with the HDMI port. If it has an HDMI port, then most cheaper HDMI cables will work.

The top guy is right. The second guy is wrong. Regular hdmi cables only work with the elite.
