usually some lack of honesty will make someone take the leap to divorce.
with younger couples at least it is usually some lie, like cheating on one another, or being dishonest about yourself or your interests.

sometimes, it is due to abuse, emotional or physical.

and sometimes, people just grow apart and want to be alone. a lot of time that is what happened when people are in their 50's or so, the kids have all left home, and they decide that they have changed too much to be together. ive even heard that when a couple retires, they realize how much they have both changed, and really cant stand each others company anymore

There are many reasons that a couple gets divorced. I got divorced because I was fed up with all the mental abuse that I was going through. My ex was an alcoholic and then quit drinking but nothing changed. I had to get divorced because there was no reason to stay married. My children were grown and gone.

But these days everyone is so busy they hardly see each other and just grow apart. They don't spend enough time together and drift apart.
