UK, Germany, Russia, France, USA, China, Japan.....
....for serious issues it's like Tony Soprano sitting at a table with the heads of other families. They all know now that they can do a bit of whatever they want.... but that no one gains if someone steps too far into someone else's territory or sphere of influence.
I don't think we'll have a WW3 as such, but the chances of rogue elements making serious terrorist attacks causing serious reprisals on other nations is much higher.

Yes, but it won't be the kind you imagine from the previous World Wars i.e. on the battlefield. The economic disparities between the First World and Third World will continue to grow. Israel vs. the Middle East/Palestine is a time bomb waiting to happen. Relations between the USA/Europe and Russia are worse than since the cold war and aren't being helped by the fascistic Putin. Iran and North Korea both have unknown quantities of nuclear weapons and are generally hostile towards the West. Religious wars are waged against the West by Muslims. A whole host of African nations are under corrupt regimes. Civil wars in Iraq, Pakistan, other Middle Eastern nations. Meh, you could touch upon any of these issues after reading up in more detail.
Why not? People have learnt from the past; the world has never been more unified or had better communications; war would be a disaster for the economy; the fact that any potential agressor fears having nuclear weapons used against them.
Don't credit, it'll look silly. Pooling others opinions and taking from them what you will is learning the same as is reading a textbook.

I believe it is at our doorstep but most folks don't really realize it yet... I firmly believe that America will see another attack and it will make 9/11 child's play. Our own TSA checkpoints in major US airports still miss up to 75% of bomb making material as of today's report. That was LAX. What have we learned in 5 years? Doesn't appear very much. And that is so low level stuff. What aren't we doing higher up that we don't know about us regular schmucks going to work every day? Wire tapping and email scouting would help but we are so concerened with our individual "freedoms" that we miss the big picture. Homeland security. If we have no homeland, there will be no security. That is what we have at hand. Whether or not you agree with Bush, the terrorist threat is real and needs to be addressed. We'll end up voting into office some ill equipped candidate to deal with the next 4 years - the most critical of our existence. I guess when someone breaks down your front door and says "convert or die," it will then be a reality. Until then. It is not.

No, I don't think there will be another world war. Iran will eventually get rid of their leader and move along the same lines as Libya. Libya was after nuclear weapons and gave them up to us. They are now a member of the UN Security Council. The country has come a long way since their leader wised up. After Afgan and Iraq is over, both countries will move along with their economy and progress in a peaceful atmosphere. Iran will do the same and all of them will prosper. Look at Japan, South Korea, Germany, Vietnam they have become leaders in the world economy. Eventually It will all play out for the good of everyone.

Economics, war is very very expensive, most countries these days cant afford the troops the equipment or the men, plus the idea of war in the minds of the voting public is abhorrent, when you look at the numbers of men killed in the first two wars they go into the millions, these days each casualty is seen as a news headline, the best way to take over a country is by either lending them money or giving them aid so they cant afford to make war, if you look at Japan, they tried making war against the US, but in the years since they have made more inroads into US society, just by making a large percentage of their technology, cars, TV's etc etc, even China with the biggest army would not try to make war with the west as it relies on us to buy its goods, and is so economically tied up with the west it would spell nothing but ruin, so if there is to be a WW3, it will be fought in the stock exchange.

From the moment I realized how much of an idiot George W. Bush was (during his campaign in 2000), I believed we would see WWIII. It's already beginning in my opinion. We're fighting in Iraq and Afganistan. The Turks are poised to invade Iraq as we speak. Iran is in alliance with Russia to keep us out of the caspian sea (another oil project). Russia is playing "cat & mouse" in NATO air space world-wide...including here on U.S. mainland. There's too much tumult in the world right now. Many don't realize it, but we're really in a fragile situation. The big difference between then and now is, this time, we're the bad guys. all the drama Bush has caused in the mid-east has really painted a bulls eye on us. Some of our GREATEST allies have become fair weather friends, our armed forces are running on reserves and we're really vulnerable overseas as well as at home.

definitely ... i recon china will do it, they are a nuclear power, they have a space program. a massive well disciplined army. also i don't think they are signed up to the U.N
you will notice when the U.S. want to start a war they tend to try to get china's approval or at least see if china has no interest.
definitely them... just no cause yet.
i just hope they remember we stuck up for them against japan before ww2
it will happen its human nature to want what others have. or not loose what you have
most think its Iran Iraq Saudi etc and that will always be a place of war ... eventually really bloody wars too . one lesson the UK and US need to remember you cant defeat a civilian army or suicide bombers under conventional war tactics they tried it against japan in WW2 hence the need for the H bomb

Its already started.
People just don't realise..
Causes: Depleting Resources, Weapons of Mass Destruction Paranoia linked to Cultural Ignorance and Intolerance.
You might say it is inevitable in all honesty. The only question is when will the Nations who really pose a threat to Western powers become involved..?
Tommorrow, next year? 50 Years? who knows maybe China will invade someone soon.? an African oil/gas rich nation? Perhaps they will say they have weapons of mass destruction?
Who knows.......? Good luck with your essay.

we are already in WW3... look at the world as a whole...
america is fighting on so many fronts, and in so many theatres it has to be at war... thats where people end up dead, or dead rich...
you wont get another war in europe, weve already been down that road many times.. and we crushed the opposition...many times.. but in todays warfare, teh losses are MUCH higher... and we just arent that stupid anymore... we will amalgamate rather than fragment...
because if there is a real ww3... we wont knwo a whole lot about it..nuclear weapons and chemical arsenals... and its goodnight vienna... for all of us...
