It depends on how it's used in a sentence. If it comes at the beginning, as in "for a moment I thought you were going to leave," it's an introductory phrase. In any case, you could call it a dependent or modifying phrase.

It is a prepositional phrase, and it doesn't matter if it's at the beginning or the end of the sentence.
