I've been a die hard Yankees fan for over 35 years, and it was a discrace what the Yankees did to Torre and that offer today was an insult. And as much as I love the Yankees, I hope Mariano, Posada and Petite decide to go elsewhere also, because of what the Yankees did today. The Yankees would have done better just telling him last week we will not renew your contract instead of insulting him with a 1 year deal like they did today.

It was a fair offer to maintain him as the highest paid manager, but Torre didn't think he could lead the team to a world series again so he knew he would be taking a pay cut since he couldn't earn the bonus or option year. You can look at the offer as being an insult or fair really because it is both. It's less then what he was making, but could be worth twice any other manager if he's truely the best. In the end the Yankee's tried to keep him and he walked, time to move on.

Yes I think it was a big insult.
Yes he deserved better.
Yes it could have ended better,but I am sure glad he is leaving.

I hope Alex,Mariano and Jorge leave too,serves the owners right.
